SHS will offer a monthly tutorial period for students. On Tues., Jan. 27, we will begin a school-wide guided studies program called Overtime. Overtime will be an opportunity for all 9th, 10th, and 11th grade students to meet with teachers to receive targeted support and instruction. Teachers will prioritize and identify students that they would like to meet with each month. Here are the dates of Overtime: Jan. 27, Feb. 24, Mar. 10, Apr. 14, and May 19. Overtime will take place from 10:45am - 11:25am.
During Overtime, all seniors will be participating in a mandatory Economics Seminar.
We are excited about the opportunity to provide your student targeted academic support during the regular school day. Overtime has the potential to help a student re-learn how to solve an algebra problem, strengthen active reading skills, receive peer editing on an essay, study for a test, or just have an additional block of time with their teachers. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact the Counseling Office.
Our Hollywood-themed Winter Ball will be Sat. Feb 7, 8:00-11:00pm, at The Olde School in St. Helens.
Tickets are $10 if purchased before the event or $15 at the door. In other news, recently we conducted a fundraiser for a Buddy Bench for Grant Watts. A Buddy Bench is for any students who would like to make new friends or are looking for someone to play with. They sit on the Buddy Bench; other students take notice and ask them if they want to play. Our leadership class has also made a video of the Buddy Bench in action.
Our Spirit Club has “Roll Tribe” T-shirts for sale. We can also order sizes that we don't have on hand. See Josie Bradley in the Counseling Office.
Congratulations to Emily Hay, Rotary Student of the Month for December and to Jacob Wendelschafer, Rotary Student of the Month for January.
Congratulations to senior Alyssa Candiff and junior Breana Bledsoe for being selected for the Oregon All-State women's choir. Both singers traveled to Eugene, OR for this prestigious event, rehearsed all weekend with the best high school singers in the state, and performed with the whole All-State choir at the Hult Center for the Performing Arts.
